SARAJEVO, October 2,2020. -Acceptance of the China UnionPay International payment cards on ATM devices of Intesa Sanpaolo Banka in BiH was declared the best business move in 2019, according to selection of the business portal www.indikator.ba

At the award ceremony held today in Sarajevo,  Mr. Amir Termiz, member of the Management Board of Intesa Sanpaolo Banka BiH, received the award for the best business move in the financial sector in 2019,  for the cooperation with UnionPay International (UPI), enabling acceptance of their cards at ATMs of Intesa Sanpaolo Banka BiH.

The award was presented by the main editor of the web portal Indikator.ba, Mr. Borivoje Simić, who pointed out:

“The move of Intesa Sanpaolo Banka, which established cooperation with UnionPay International (UPI), the subsidiary of China UnionPay, was included by analysts of the Indikator.ba portal among the best business moves, since it brought the international brand to our market and the potential that such a contract brings.

Withdrawal of money and payments are now easier, and it is expected that the money that Chinese tourists leave in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be higher than it has been so far, and they are known for above-average spending. The corona virus pandemic has stopped the arrival of Chinese tourists, but normalization is expected to follow, and thus the effects of this cooperation will be seen. “

Mr. Amir Termiz, member of the Management Board of Intesa Sanpaolo Banka for Retail Banking, expressed gratitude for this award and pointed out that Coronavirus pandemic slowed down the economic effects, that were expected from establishing cooperation with one of the largest payment card issuers in the world, but that it is still of great importance for positioning of the Bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future, when it comes to this global company.

Since 2019, Intesa Sanpaolo Banka BiH joined other banks – daughters of Intesa Sanpaolo Group from Croatia (PBZ Bank) and Slovenia (Intesa Sanpaolo Bank), which already accept the UnionPay cards.
