“It is my great pleasure to underline the importance of this credit line both for our Bank and for the wider community. By signing this Agreement with KfW, we are entering in a new phase of support to transition toward sustainable and low carbon economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Low Carbon Energy Facility is a significant step forward toward strengthening the energy deficiency and promoting the renewable energy sources, and our Bank proudly takes the role of a financial partner in the Program implementation. This cooperation with KfW confirms our long commitment to sustainable projects and strategic investments contributing to the development of the country and environmental protection. Looking forward to participating in future joint projects, we express our gratitude to KfW for their confidence. We are convinced that this Program will yield specific benefits for the economy, local communities and future generations,” said Michele Castoro, President of the Management Board of Intesa Sanpaolo Banka.
The value of this credit line is reflected in the grant component in the amount of 3 million EUR, which enables the return of up to 15% of the investment to the beneficiaries who successfully implement the energy efficiency measures in line with the criteria defined within REEP Plus Programme for the Western Balkans.
“Supporting MSMEs that are committed to investing in EE and RE remains the focus of KfW’s financial support in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This new Program will contribute to the country’s efforts in implementing the Green Agenda, including decarbonization. We are pleased to see that our partner lending institutions, such as Intesa Sanpaolo Banka are aligned with those efforts and are assisting us in achieving the Program’s goals. The most effective way to foster the decarbonization is by providing special tailored financial products that meet the targets for reduced energy consumption and CO2 emissions, ultimately improving the overall business position of the MSMEs in the country,” said Hille Henebry, Team Leader for Sustainable Economic Development and Education for Southeast Europe and Türkiye on behalf of KfW.
