Intesa Sanpaolo Banka to turn off illuminated advertising across BiH

Sarajevo, 22.04.2025 - On Earth Day, which is celebrated throughout the world today, Intesa Sanpaolo Banka in Bosnia and Herzegovina, member of the international banking group Intesa Sanpaolo, is keen to inform the public about a new environmental project – turning off illuminated advertising at 43 branches of the Bank across BiH. This project represents a lasting contribution to energy efficiency and was symbolically launched as a continuation of the Bank's participation in the global action "Earth Hour", when lights are turned off around the world in support of environmental protection.

"Today, on Earth Day, we want to inform the public about this unique action - turning off the lights at 43 branches of the Bank every day from midnight," said Nedim Pinjo, Head of the ESG Office at Intesa Sanpaolo Banka, thus also adding:  "We believe that this is one of many steps by which our company contributes to the preservation of the environment. By reducing energy use, we are sending a clear message   that every step is important for a brighter future.”

Over the last three years, Intesa Sanpaolo Banka has implemented three afforestation actions through the Together for Our Forests project, where more than 13,000 new seedlings have been planted in the 5 regions in which the Bank operates.  Also, through the project of recycling plastic bottles in cooperation with the company Eko život d.o.o., more than 320,000 plastic, metal and glass bottles were collected through their recycling machines in Sarajevo and Mostar, for the equivalent of which Intesa Sanpaolo Banka donated funds to the Pomozi.ba Association.

For the third year in a row, this Bank is implementing the Bottle Cap for Expensive Medicine project, which involves the collection of plastic caps in two administrative buildings of the Bank and 6 branches throughout BiH. From the plastic caps sold, the Bank and partners donate money to the Association Heart for Children with Cancer, so that they can provide the necessary medicines for treatment.  It is important to note that Intesa Sanpaolo Banka, in addition to its own projects, also supports many events aimed at raising awareness of environmental protection and preservation.

In the future, Intesa Sanpaolo Banka will continue to support major environmental actions that are being implemented globally, especially those in BiH, in an effort to provide all future generations with the best possible conditions for life and clean nature.
